A couple shots from the stage at the Hiawatha Music Festival with the String Doctors- swing dance set :)

Some fun shots from our Spring Concert 2014.  We took a shot at Dvorak’s “New World” IV for our finale this year.  It was really fun to conduct these kids as usual.  I thought this represented some of the funny faces conductors make:)

Some cool shots from a few gigs last month.  MSU Professors of Jazz, Reggie Thomas (piano) and Randy Gelispie (drums) for at Jazz Alliance of Mid Michigan fundraiser, with different vocalists.  Also, from the Williamston Evening of Jazz event featuring Walter White (tpt), Buddy Budson (piano), Fred Knapp (drums), and myself.

A few cool conducting pictures from our recent Pre-festival concert.  I have a parent who takes all these great photos at our concert :)

Recently had the honor and privilege of performing at the Michigan Music Conference 2014 in DeVos Hall, in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my Encore String ensemble.  What an amazing experience! Kids played so well.

Recently had the chance to conduct at the Farmington Day of Strings!  120 kids in each MS orchestra I had for the day.  Total of 950 kids throughout the day:) This pic kind of says it all.

Here are some pictures from our annual Collage concert. This was the 31 year!  Over the last four years it has turned into a theme involving the orchestra, band, choir, and theater departments.  This year was Holloywood Movies. I went as Indiana Jones.  We commissioned a movie medley for the finale.  My colleague dresses as Darth Vader for the finale:)

We just had the Cavani String Quartet at our school for a performance/ informance/ coaching session.  They are from the Cleveland Institute of Music and are fabulous musicians.  The quartet performed, answered questions, and then clinic my Encore String ensemble on our music for MMC.  Special thanks to the Chamber Music Society of Detroit for helping to hook this up.  What a treat for us!

Recently had the opportunity to perform with the Diego Rivera Sextet for three CD release parties at Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe in Grosse Pointe, Kerrytown Concert House in Ann Arbor, and Creole Gallery in Lansing.  #goodtimes

Recently hosted the Alternative Styles String Day sponsored by MSBOA/MASTA here in Michigan.  Our guest artist was violin rock god, Joe Deninzon!  We had about 40 kids in the orchestra.  I also got to perform with the professional rock quartet for the performance which allowed me to “get my electric” back on.  Overall, super cool day for the kids and teachers involved.  Joe was a wonderful guest artist, all around great guy, and he brought the house down with his Viper Violin!
